Here’s a panel I drew this morning. I wanted to show the line and wash alongside the coloured panel. It’s a fairly rapid process - I’m isolating the black line and wash on a layer by itself and then colouring underneath. Much of the boring setup stuff is recorded inside an action. If you make comics and use photoshop and don’t use actions then you my friend are a chump. Photoshop actions are wonderful.

Hi Dan
I really enjoy your work. I am an illustrator who has just started out digitally painting in Photoshop. I have no formal training so I am just learning by trial. I am quite interested in the technique you use in the soldiers pic, and would be greatful for more detail on this and any other advice you could give me about colouring in Photoshop.
Kind regards
Paul
Yesss…tell us more about these…’actions’ you speak of… Are you saying that you can get Photoshop do all the channels stuff before you get colouring?
I’m interested in this as well, I normally just color in a multiply layer, I would love to learn more about this.
